Why Adopt? Pet Adoption = Instant Friend for Life! Help save a dogs life today. Get M.A.D!

Our dogs are looking for their forever homes!  In return they offer you their unconditional love and affection.  It’s hard to find a greater bond than one between an adopted pet and their owner. Dogs or cats who have been uprooted from their homes, or have had difficult beginnings are likely to bond completely and deeply with their new human caretakers, whom they regard as heroes.

You can see our most up to date list of our adoptables on Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet or by coming to see us at one of our adoption events at the Petco in Troy, MI.

If you would like to inquire about any of available dogs please use one of the available methods provided in our contact us page.

We work hard to keep these lists as up-to-date as possible and apologize if you come to see us and any of the pets listed below are unavailable. We hope that you will be happy they have found their forever home and consider some of the other pets available during your visit.

Does anyone ever get a response from Make a Difference? We filled out an application 2 weeks ago, I have called and emailed and can’t get any response at all to even find out if we are being considered. Seems pretty strange for a charity trying to find good homes for thir dogs to not even contact people who apply.

    • Tammy says:

My daughter and son in law have been experiencing the same thing over the last 2 weeks. They have sent 9 emails and left 5 phone messages regarding their application. What gives???????

    • Sue C. says:

I don’t know if you ever got your response, but if you want to follow up you need to come visit them at Troy Petco on Sundays from 12-5pm. Yes, they are a rescue : charity, but the people that run it also have full time jobs besides the full time they spend fostering, volunteering and adopting out dogs. They do the best they can and adopt out several dogs each week.

    • Fannie says:

That’s really sherdw! Good to see the logic set out so well.

I’m a foster dad, and I’ve been a foster for quiet some time with Make A Difference. I know that in the years being with MAD, there is no harder working, bigger hearted, and more dedicated, to seeing all her dogs find good, loving, caring homes than Judy. You’ve seen the story about Sammy, see was mine. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about her, and all of the support, help , care, that Make A Difference did, they stood by us, made such a heartbreaking part of our lives, especially Sams, a lot easier to deal with. Maybe I’m to close to MAD to be anything but, praise the rescue, but if you are having trouble contacting them or in getting a response back from them, keep trying or as Marilyn says”Go to one of the ADPOTION EVENTS on Sunday’s. you’ll be glad you did, and that you waited for your special dog. And trust me, they are special, there’s ‘NO LOVE LIKE THE LOVE YOU GET BACK FROM A RESCUE DOG.

  21. Shelley says:

Don’t bother going there. Went to adopt two – yes 2 – puppies and were told “they didn’t think it was a good fit” because a month ago I told them I thought their fee was higher than most rescue organizations which it is. After doing some checking I found out that they have little to no interest in getting these dogs adopted out – they simply want the money for themselves. The director is in it for the money – not to find homes for the dogs. She isn’t interested in homes with people who make more than she does and has more than she does and the volunteers are unruly and cruel to the animals. Stay away from there and go to a reputable company. They have been reported to the state and I am going to make sure that these animals are sent to homes to be cared for by people who actually care for them.

My wife and I are very interested in Mack the Lab Retriever mix. Is he still available? I’ve sent an email and called with no response. I want to make sure he is still available before I drive all the way out to Troy.

  33. Sandra says:

What a sad commentary all this is! These poor animals that people WANT, and they can’t even get a reply. I saw an older dog today that looked like a perfect match for me, tried to ask a question, and it wouldn’t even go through at the contact info given. Certainly people have questions about a dog,(weight, for example), and they want to know if it’s available before driving some distance for nothing. There are SO MANY messages in this trail, and so FEW replies. Poor dogs. They are missing out, as are the people who might want them. I will move elsewhere in my search.

  34. Jacob Olson says:

Hi, we were very curious and interested about your dog Blue. He is exactly what we are looking for to complete our small family which includes our dog Copper, a 3 year old male bloodhound. The only problem we saw was that you would like him to have a fenced in yard. We live in an apartment complex, but we go on daily runs and nightly walks to keep Copper exercised and plan to buy a house within a year. We also spend most of the weekends in the summer camping. Please let us know if you would consider us for a forever home for Blue. Thank you in advance. -Jake, Danielle and Copper

Hi, I just discovered this site. I am wondering where people are finding these pets that they’re talking about wanting to adopt. Is there a link to a page with a list of adoptable pets ? Where? I would prefer to adopt an adult cat that I can be certain will otherwise be euthanized. I inquired at my local “high kill” shelter in Kalamazoo, MI, but I can’t afford to pay over $100 adoption fee that they need to cover their shelter expenses. I’m 60 yrs. old with disability and am (fortunate to have it though) on a low fixed income. If anyone reading this happens to know of a place in Kalamazoo, or nearby surrounding city that fits the bill, please send an email to: dwyn4477@yahoo.com. I would be absolutely delighted to saved the life of my new precious kitty companion. : ) Thanks, Deb

Please let me know I think I will be a good choice for them.

I had a service dog prospect who was 10 weeks old and she died of tangled intestines. I spent 2000 to try and fix her. While at Wilson Vet, I encountered an employee/volunteer from your site and she said you had plenty of large dogs who might be qualified to be a service dog mobility dog. I am 5 foot and 3/4 inches and weigh 140 lbs. So I would require dog weighing qt least 80 lbs. The reason i require a mobility dogs is due to 3 strokes. The dog would also be trained to do some quide work too as I am blind in one eye and almost legally blind. My trainer would like a dog under 1 year old and perferrable not yet neutered or spayed until the growth plates come together. I am willing to sign a spay/neuter contract. we just want the mobility dog to be as healthy as possible and not get hurt.

If you have a match for me, I would really like to give a second chance to a rescue as I’ve gotten a 2nd chance as well.

I would really appreciate a call from you with a possible match! 586-244-2666

I’m interested in seeing Nala and possibly adopting her

  41. Sarah says:

Please do not use this rescue to adopt your animal. My partner and I tried to go through them to adopt a dog and after filling out our paperwork and falling in love with a dog named Wally we were denied because of a mistake that we had made during our home visit, and instead of educating us the person who visited (Ashley) wrote us off and we were denied a dog without any other explanation besides “we don’t think it would be a good fit.” Now, I understand that these animals need to go to homes where they won’t be abused or neglected, but for a rescue that seems *so* desperate to find these animals good homes, I found the way that we were treated quite unfair and pretty insulting. We have a huge, fenced in yard and a great, clean home that any dog would be happy to live in. In fact, we went through a shelter called ALL ABOUT ANIMALS to adopt a dog and he has had two very happy and healthy months with us. He adds so much to our lives and we are so lucky that we were able to find him after the heartbreak we experienced with Wally. We checked on Petfinder the other day and Wally is still up for adoption. It’s such a shame that these people don’t actually seem to care about these animals and have ridiculous rules and regulations for adoption and do not give second chances if potential adoptees do not know every little detail of pet ownership or asks too many questions. I can understand being cautious, but the treatment we received was beyond callous and rude. I feel bad for any animal that falls under their care because I doubt they will be finding a forever home soon.
